After transfering the drawing on canvas, i underpaint it in monochromatic grey tone, mixing white and black. I use acrylics it dries too fast and gives quick result rather than oils. I pay special attention on tonal values from foreground to background in this stage.

After few minutes when the underpainting dries, i start working on sky. Making a grey tone from mixing burnt sienna + ultramarine blue + white. I applied a thin wash on sky, foreground and rocks. ( Note i do not mix black colour to darken or making greys in my final painting. I prefer to make darks combining blues and browns ).

In this stage i applied a thin wash of burnt sienna + vandyk brown on rocks to give them a basic tonal value.

Now working on sky, i applied a thick coat of grey ( burnt sienna + ultramarine blue + white ). Added slight white to lighten the sky near horizon to give an impression of aerial perspective.

After the colour dried,i applied a thin layer of bluesh gray on distant mountains. Also i applied a thin coat of burnt sienna + vandyk brown + slight purssian blue on foreground rock and created loose brush strokes to give textures of rocks.

In this stage i again mixed bluesh gray and applied with a dry brush on certain areas of rocks leaving the dark areas beneath the rocks to give a sense of depth. I also applied a first layer on a tree trunk with burnt sienna to give the final form of trunk.

Now i started work on grass, woking with a zero number round brush i loaded it with bluesh grey slightly mixed with sap green and burnt sienna. I worked on a trunk too with bluesh grey. I also applied a light wash of burnt sienna + yellow ochre in the ground.

I worked more on grass in this stage with a round brush. I used the same colour recipe mixing bluesh gray and greenish grey.

Now the final stage, i applied highlights on rocks and grass with dry brush. I worked more on distant ground, enhancing the wild plant with bluesh grey. I also applied small dabs of colour around the plant to give an impression of optical mixing. Atlast i applied a thin wash of bluesh gray on distant mountains to highlight my main focal point.
